       About ANZAC Day

There are literally thousands of people doing a tour of the battlefields on the 24th. To get the most out of your tour make sure you stick with your guide and don't get lost in the crowds. After the Gallipoli tours, we head off for the site of the dawn service and get a great spot on the grass. There's plenty of atmosphere overnight and as long as you're warm you'll have an awesome night waiting for dawn over the battlefields. After the dawn service, you can easily walk through the trenches and memorials to the next service - you don't need to wait for your bus and a good walk will warm you up just nicely.

       What should I bring?

You will arrive at the site of the dawn service early in the evening on the 24th. It will be very very cold so bring some warm gear - a very warm jumper and sleeping bag or a jumper and jacket, as a minimum. Though by 2pm on Anzac day, it could get quite warm, so don't forget the sunscreen. Due to the restrictions placed on the many, many buses, you wont be able to get back to your tour bus after the dawn service so whatever you take with you, remember you will have to carry for the day, so you probably don't want to be carrying more than a day pack and a small sleeping bag.

Every year there is food and drinks on offer at the dawn service site and around the Gallipoli peninsular during the day, but we suggest that you also take some munchies and plenty of water with you.

       Order of Services and map

The proposed timings for the ANZAC Day service sare as follows

05:30-06:15 Anzac Dawn Service, Anzac Commemorative Site, North Beach
10:00-10:45 Australian Memorial Service, Lone Pine
11:15-12:00 Turkish 57th Regiment Memorial Service
12:30-13:15 New Zealand Memorial Service, Chunuk Bair

Anzac Day Dawn Service and Australian Lone Pine Service

After completion of the Dawn Service at approximately 06:15 hours, visitors, depending on traffic arrangements, may be required to walk along the coast and up to Lone Pine Cemetery. This 2.5 kilometre walk takes visitors via Ari Burnu, Beach, Shrapnel Valley and Shell Green Cemeteries. Visitors requiring special assistance will be provided with shuttle transport to Lone Pine.

Lone Pine and New Zealand Chunuk Bair Services

Those wishing to attend both services must walk from one to the other. The time between the services is approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. The route slopes uphill past the 57th Regiment Service and is approximately 3.3 kilometres long. Please respect the fact that you will be walking past the Turkish Service while it is in progress. The walk is well marked but will take a reasonably fit individual about one hour to complete.
