Istanbul Formula One Grand Prix 12 Day itinerary Fez Travel want to welcome you to the 2007 Grand Prix in the most fabulous settings of Istanbul. The new 5.3 Km curcuit which has been designed by Herman Tilke is reckoned to be one of the most challenging tracks of the 2007 season with some 6 right hand turns and 8 left hand turns and a mixture of gradients, the main grandstand has a capacity of 30,000 people. No other city in the world covers two continents and can offer you such a race. Day 1 Thursday 23 August Welcome to Istanbul Welcome to Istanbul. You will be met at the Ataturk Airport and transferred to your hotel which is located in the heart of Sultanahmet, the old city. Overnight Istanbul 3*. Day 2 Friday 24 August F1 practice sessions After breakfast today we head to the track to get to the track for practice at 11:00. You will have your first chance to see the racetrack and cars and watch the two practice sessions held this day. Overnight Istanbul 3*. Day 3 Saturday 25 August F1 practice and qualifying sessions After breakfast today we head to the track to get to the track for practice at 11:00. You will have the chance to see the cars getting ready for the big day and watch practice and later the qualifying laps. Overnight Istanbul 3*. Day 4 Sunday 26 August Istanbul Formula One Grand Prix After breakfast today we head to the circuit to take your place at the track to watch the Istanbul Formula 1 Grand Prix. Overnight Istanbul 3*. Day 5 Monday 27 August Gallipoli battlefields One of the most emotionally touching places in Turkey, today we visit the WWI Battlefields of Gallipoli including Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair Memorials, ANZAC Cove, the Nek, Johnston’s Jolly and the Kaba Tepe Gallipoli Museum. Overnight Guzelyali 4*. Lunch and dinner. Day 6 Tuesday 28 August Troy, Acropolis of Pergamum This morning, step back in time as we visit Troy, home of the famed Trojan Horse. Then we tour the magnificent acropolis of Pergamum. Its impressive temples, library and medical facilities made Pergamum a renowned cultural and political centre in its time. An afternoon leather goods display follows. Overnight Kusadasi 4*. Dinner. Day 7 Wednesday 29 August Ephesus, Kusadasi Absorb yourself in history today with a guided tour of Ephesus. Feel the mystical atmosphere of the city and stadium where chariot and horse races were once held. Carpet weaving has long traditions in Turkey. At the carpet village we learn how the carpets are made by hand and what determines their value. Overnight Pamukkale 4*. Dinner. Day 8 Thursday 30 August Pamukkale, Hierapolis Tour the magnificent white calcium terraces of Pamukkale, followed by the ancient city of Hierapolis. Take a dip in the hot springs that were used in Roman times for their therapeutic powers and then continue to Konya. Overnight Konya 4*. Dinner. Day 9 Friday 31 August Caravansary , Ilhara Valley, Underground City Today we visit Mevlana Museum. The Mevlevi order of whirling dervishes is a mystic group whose members are followers of Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi. We then visit ancient Silk Road Caravanserais. Afternoon trek through the wildy beautiful Ihlara Valley and explore one of the largest underground cities, Derinkuyu. Tonight, don’t miss the optional traditional Turkish folklore evening! Overnight Cappadocia 4*. Day 10 Saturday 1 September Cappadocia, Goreme, Uchisar castle Marvel at the lunar landscape of Cappadocia through Goreme Valley, the fairy chimneys, Uchisar castle and more.
