How it works

No matter where around the circuit you are staying, the Fez Bus can pick you up every 2nd day at any of our designated pick up points. When you stop at a designated overnight stop (e.g. Gallipoli) you can depart with the same bus to do the next sector the following day. If however, you want to stay longer, then wait for the next bus to come through.
As long as you tell us on the bus, which bus you want to board next - your seat is guaranteed!! If you don't know when you want to be picked up, no problem, you can call our toll-free number and book via our head office. All bookings not made on the Fez Bus however, must be made at least 48 hours beforehand to guarantee a seat. Otherwise your travel on the Fez bus will be on a standby basis and will be dependant upon availability.
Your pass is valid all season, but you can only do each sector once e.g. if you have been on the bus from Istanbul to Gallipoli, you are not able to use your pass again for this part of the circuit.
You have a choice of 28 different places on the Fez Bus circuit that you can hop on or hop off, but remember that our buses have overnight stops at the following places to give our drivers and tour leaders a well deserved rest: -
  • Gallipoli
  • Selcuk / Kusadasi (Ephesus)
  • Koycegiz
  • Fethiye / Oludeniz
  • Olypmos
  • Cappadocia
  • Istanbul
The Fez Bus is a door to door travel network and nearly all the designated stops in each town are at our specially selected and recommended accommodation points. We try to find the best value budget accommodation point in each town, but if budget is not your preference, then your on-board tour leader can just as easily arrange 3, 4 or 5 star accommodation and you can hop off and hop on at that door instead.
Though if you have a friend in town or somewhere special you want to stay, than that is ok as well because the Fez Bus is all about flexibility, you can stay anywhere you want, you just need to make your way from and to the pick up point for your next departure.

Travel planning

You may find our travel planner at Fez Bus Travel Planner helpful in planning your trip.
Remember to check your departure times as well as your departure date. Some of our departure times have been organised to allow you enough time to see the major attractions of the area, without the need to stay extra nights. For example our departure from Olympos is not till 13:00, allowing you the whole morning to experience the beach and it surrounding ruins.
Also don't forget that our last sector is an overnight bus, saving you time and money.
If you are sailing on a gulet, then consider the gulet departure dates when planning your trip. You may not necessarily be able to depart on your gulet trip the day after you arrive in Fethiye.
In the following example, the Fez Bus arrives in Fethiye on the Thursday July 8, however, the next 'Mediterranean Dreaming' gulet departure is not until Saturday July 10, finishing on the Tuesday July 13. So you would need to spend a full day in Fethiye before your cruise departs. Not really a problem as there is plenty to do. Why not try paragliding (Oludeniz is the best place in the world) or diving, just ask your on-board tour leader as they can arrange everything for you. Your cruise will finish in Olympos in the late afternoon of Tuesday July 13. In this case, the next Fez bus to depart from Olympos is Bus No. 5 on Wednesday July 14, so you will have a night in Olympos to check out the flames of Chimera if you want.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is Fez Travel just a bus service?
NO! - Fez Travel is a tour operator and a travel agency with tours covering both Turkey and Greece. We are one of the leading tour operators for ANZAC day and also operate the only hop-on hop-off flexible bus network in Turkey - the 'Fez Bus'.
In addition to our scheduled tours, we operate tailor-made tours that cater for a variety of special interest requests including cultural, study, religious and adventure tours, with hostel to 5-star services and accommodation. We also sell the cheapest flights from Istanbul to anywhere in the world.
2. What is hop on hop off?
The Fez hop-on hop-off bus is a popular bus service pitched at budget travellers and backpackers. It is designed for those wishing to see a little or a lot of Turkey. A pass is valid all season (July to October). The buses depart from Istanbul several times each week and can drop you off or pick you up at any of our 25 designated pick up points around the circuit.
3. Does the Fez bus pass include accommodation?
No, but each day your on board tour Leader can arrange accommodation for you at the hostels/budget hotels that we stay atthat we stay at, all have private rooms as well as dorms, or if you prefer 3 or 4 star accommodation they can arrange that as well. Alternately you can stay anywhere you want, you just need to make your way from and to the pick up point for your next departure.
Your accommodation budget depends on the accommodation you prefer. Prices vary around the circuit but on average dorm beds will cost 10-16 Euro per night and private twin share hostel rooms will cost 35-55 Euro per night. Remember most of the hostels will give you a 10% discount of you show your Fez Bus pass.
4. What is Fez bus Tour Leader for?
Our onboard tour leaders are on the Fez Bus with you, while travelling around the circuit. The tour leader is there to help with booking your accommodation, tours and anything else you may need assistance with, so that our drivers can focus on the road.
5. How long should I spend in Turkey on the Fez bus?
We recommend a minimum of three weeks, however, if you are on limited time, the minimum you can complete the full circuit on the Fez bus is 8 days or you can do a Silk Trail or Turkey Express pass in 6 days.
6. How do I book each leg of my journey on the Fez Bus?
When you first book your travel pass you only need to select where and when you want to first meet the Fez Bus. All sectors of travel after this can be booked each day on the bus with your tour leader. Otherwise you can book by emailing, faxing or phoning our Istanbul office. 48 hrs notice is needed to guarantee your seat if you do not book on the bus, otherwise your travel on the Fez bus will be on a standby basis and will be dependant upon availability.
7. How much do the optional tours and activities cost?
On the Fez Bus we try to offer you as many options as possible at each place and try to get the best prices that we can throughout the season, so our options list gets updated regularly.
You can find details of some of the most popular options on your pre departure pack but our tour leader will also provide you with an updated list on departure.
8. What is the average age of your customers?
The age of our clients ranges from the young to the young at heart! Our customers come from all walks of life, so our itineraries are deliberately flexible covering a wide variety of personal interests to maximize our client's satisfaction.
9. Do I need to bring bedding, sheet, sleeping bag or towel?
All hostels/hotels/gulets in Turkey provide bedding, sheets and blankets. It is always wise to bring a towel, especially in summer. If you are travelling on an ANZAC Day tour where you will be sleeping out at ANZAC cove over night then definitely bring a light sleeping bag as its gets very cold there at 4 am in April.
