EMPLOYMENT

Thanks for your interest in Fez Travel.
Unfortunately we have now completed our selection process for 2009, but will be accepting applications for the 2010 season from January 2010.

Do you have common sense, oomph, and boundless energy? Are you spirited, self-motivated, optimistic, young at heart and sociable? Have you ever dreamed of making a positive difference in the lives of thousands of travellers? Do you want to experience the summer of a lifetime?

If this is you then you're in luck! We are currently recruiting Fez on-board tour leaders, for the European summer of 2010 in Turkey.

Our staff that interact with our clients face to face (could be you) are our most important representatives, therefore, our expectations are high.

More so than any experience or qualifications - you need the right frame of mind to succeed in this job.

we want people who
  • Love to travel - If you want to make big money, go to London, but if you want to make enough money to survive while spending the summer travelling an exotic country, then read on!
  • Truly enjoy meeting and hanging out with other travellers - travellers whom are sometimes just like yourself and sometimes quite the opposite.
  • Always remain pro-active, positive and optimistic in the face of the world's largest challenges - your the leader, remember?
  • Are well educated, where travel is concerned of course, the finest education!
  • Will want to keep learning all about the history and culture that surrounds them (and where to find the best kebabs!)
  • Are motivated to share their knowledge with others - the more of life's mysteries that you can enlighten people about, the more interesting the job becomes for you.

what our clients expect from you
  • Our clients are free-spirited - they want to do their own thing and learn a little bit more about the country than the average traveller.
  • The biggest thing that really separates the 'Fez Bus' from a local bus is 'YOU'. The wealth of knowledge that you will impart to your customers is going to help to give them their 'travelling experience of a lifetime'.

what to expect
  • Get paid to travel while you work.
  • Meet and mingle with loads of interesting people.
  • Really immerse yourself in and experience a different culture.
  • Loads of responsibility and a fair amount of autonomy.
  • A chance to develop your organisational, interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
  • Occasionally deal with difficult clients.
  • A chance to experience the adventure products on offer.
  • Rarely a dull moment and often a challenging one.
  • An awesome summer that you won't forget!
If you are one of the chosen ones, you'll be offered a position on our training trip in May 2010.

the training trip
Before the training trip, you'll be supplied with all the details. You'll need to pay a bond of £250 which is fully refundable at the end of the season or when your contract with Fez reasonably terminates. This bond is just to demonstrate to us that you're serious about working the whole season.

You will be offered a position with Fez after successful completion of the training trip.

what a tour leader does
A typical day begins with you being ready to leave half an hour before the bus is scheduled to leave, checking your driver is awake and enjoying breakfast with some of the passengers (you do get to sleep in some days).

Departure time is usually the most frenzied time of the day for you as you attempt to locate missing passengers. Sometimes clients have slept in, sometimes they've forgotten what time the bus is departing or maybe even ended up in a different bed at the wrong hostel.

Throughout the day, you enlighten a bus full of spellbound onlookers about the countryside and towns you're passing through and stopping in for the night. You give spiels about history and modern culture, along with all the best travel tips about where to go, what to see and do, how to get there and how much to pay. When it's not you-vs-the-whole-bus in a question and answer forum, you're generally chatting to different people, perhaps offering your ideas about how best to spend 3 or 4 weeks in Turkey depending on that person's particular interests.

As well as looking after the group you have passenger lists to keep in order, expense accounts, accommodation and tour bookings and leading activities such as hiking up canyons! Most of your time, however, is spent mingling, chatting with and getting to know other travellers.

Like any job, it can be an arduous task getting up for work most mornings, moreover, you're often moving and living out of a backpack. Unlike any job, however, the things you will see and do and the experiences you'll have will give you one of the best and most rewarding summers ever.
