Gallipoli & Troy Tours 'August Offensive - 16 days Tour' 16 - Day itinerary
Day 1
Friday 5th August
Istanbul
Welcome to Istanbul, where you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Tonight, meet with your guide and the rest of your group.

Day 2
Saturday 6th August
Istanbul Old City
This morning, you will enjoy a fully guided tour of the only city to span two continents, visiting the Blue Mosque, the Aya Sofya, Topkapi Palace, the underground Basilica Cistern and the Hippodrome before driving west along the Sea of Marmara towards the Gallipoli Peninsula. Tonight we will enjoy an introductory information session on the Gallipoli campaign.

Day 3
Sunday 7th August
ANZAC Cove, The Nek
Today our first stop is ANZAC Cove where we spend time walking the landing beach and visit the nearby beach cemetery before continuing on to Lone Pine (Australian) and Chunuk Bair (New Zealand) Memorials, Johnston's Jolly and the Gallipoli museum. Early afternoon we will stop at the Nek for a short memorial service at the location where on 7 August 1915, two regiments of the Australian 3rd Light Horse Brigade mounted a tragic attack on the Turkish trenches.

Day 4
Monday 8th August
Suvla Bay, Cape Helles
We awake before sunrise s and head to ANZAC cove for a private dawn service to commemorate our fallen forefathers. We then continue our tour visiting the various battlefields and memorials spread throughout the Gallipoli penninsula such as Suvla Bay and Cape Hellas. Late afternoon we take a final drive along the road from Lone Pine to Chunuk Bair for the opportunity to grab any photos you may wish to add to your collection.

Day 5
Tuesday 9th August
Troy, Acropolis of Pergamum
Step back in time today as we visit Troy and its famed Trojan Horse, followed by a tour of the magnificent Acropolis of Pergamum. Its impressive temples and library made it a renowned cultural and political centre in its time.

Day 6
Wednesday 10th August
Ephesus, Kusadasi
Absorb yourself in history today with a guided tour of Ephesus and a visit to the site of the Temple of Artemis. Feel the mystical atmosphere of the ancient city and theatre. Carpet weaving has long traditions in Turkey and at the carpet village we learn how carpets are made by hand and what determines their value.

Day 7
Thursday 11th August
Pamukkale, Hierapolis
This morning we will enjoy a display of locally handcrafted leather goods before heading to the magnificent white calcium terraces, known as Travertines, in Pamukkale where we also tour the ancient city of Hierapolis. Take a dip, amongst ancient columns, in the hot springs that were used in Roman times for their therapeutic powers.

Day 8
Friday 12th August
Aphrodisias, Fethiye
Today we drive south towards the Mediterranean coast, visiting the ancient site of Aphrodisias along the way.

Saturday 13th August
Fethiye
Today you have the option to relax on a day cruise around the 12 Islands of Fethiye or experience one of Turkey’s highlights on an optional day tour to Saklikent Gorge, Turkey’s longest and deepest canyon.

*If you choose the option of a Gulet cruise with your tour, then today you will board your traditional handmade Gulet and cruise your way through to Day 11, rejoining your tour group as they drive to Antalya*

Fethiye
Another day for choices, get your adrenaline pumping paragliding over Oludeniz beach or maybe chill out on the beach below.

Monday 15th August
Kayakoy, Antalya
Relaxing morning, before a late afternoon drive to the resort town of Fethiye visiting the deserted Greek village of Kayakoy on the way.

Tuesday 16th August
Konya, Cappadocia
Early departure for Cappadocia, stopping en-route to visit Konya and the the mausoleum of Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi with its accompanying museum. This afternoon we also stop to visit Sultanhani Caravansary, the largest in Anatolia.

Wednesday 17th August
Goreme, Uchisar Castle
Marvel at the lunar landscape of Cappadocia with a fully guided tour of Goreme Valley, the fairy chimneys, Uchisar Castle and more. Tonight, don't miss the optional traditional Turkish folklore evening!

Day 14
Thursday 18th August
Ihlara Valley, Underground City
Today we trek through the wildly beautiful Ihlara Valley and explore the many levels of an underground city.

Day 15
Friday 19th August
Ankara
Early morning departure to the nation's capital, Ankara where we visit Anitkabir, mausoleum of the famed Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, before returning to Istanbul.

Saturday 20th August
Istanbul
After breakfast our tour concludes and we say goodbye to our new friends.
